When early Buffalo farmer Lewis Fallie Allen accepted neighbor Thomas Day\u2019s offer of grazing land, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.visitbuffaloniagara.com\/2016\/10\/how-buffalos-streets-got-their-names\/\">Allen Street was born<\/a>. The rest is literally history. Allen was one of the founders of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.visitbuffaloniagara.com\/businesses\/the-buffalo-history-museum\/\">Buffalo Historical Society<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.visitbuffaloniagara.com\/2016\/11\/7-famous-residents-of-forest-lawn-cemetery\/\">Forest Lawn Cemetery<\/a> as well as being <a href=\"https:\/\/www.visitbuffaloniagara.com\/2016\/11\/10-buffalo-presidential-fun-facts\/\">President Grover Cleveland\u2019s<\/a> uncle.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-heading\" id=\"central-park\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Central Park<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Prominent Buffalo businessman Lewis Bennett started work on Central Park, one of the earliest planned neighborhoods, beginning in 1889. Before it was cleared to make way for the Erie Canal in 1825, the rock had been used as a native fishing ground, and a landing for the Black Rock Ferry to Canada.
